The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center held the third annual 5K race on  July 19.

Nearly 100 runners participated in the event, which concluded with a pool party at the JCC’s outdoor swim club. In addition to the race, a 1-mile walk for families also took place. 

The event benefited The JCC Scholarship Fund, which makes it possible for children and teens to participate in high-quality JCC programs that they could not otherwise afford. In 2011, the JCC awarded more than $205,000 in scholarship aid so that families with financial limitations could send their children to Camp Ruach and The Blaustein Early Childhood Center.

The Scholarship Fund also supports senior services and provides financial assistance to families and individuals for JCC health and wellness programs.
