Businesses Bringing Hundreds of Jobs to Town
Several pharmaceuticals are opening in town.
Aside from Allergan coming to Bridgewater in the next few months, several other pharmaceutical and technological companies are making their homes in town in the near future.
Howard Turbowitz, economic development officer for the township, said the Life Cell Corporation will be coming to Bridgewater, after having initially been based in Branchburg.
The company is involved with skin, making biological products created from skin tissue, and used for regeneration and restoration.
Turbowitz said the company is coming to 95 Corporate Drive, and will take up about 118,000 square feet in the building formerly occupied by Pfizer. The company is preparing to bring about 350 jobs to Bridgewater.
Next, Turbowitz said, Savient Pharmaceuticals will be opening at 400 Crossings Boulevard, moving into 48,000 square feet.
Turbowitz said he thinks this company will open fairly quickly because they won’t be making many changes to the property itself.
The company, which was based in East Brunswick, deals in treatment for gout.
Finally, Cognizant Technologies is moving to 200 Somerset Corporate Park in Bridgewater, coming from Teaneck.
“It is a software company, and we had been familiar with them because they purchased Market RX, which was here in Bridgewater,” Turbowitz said. “It was purchased by Cognizant several years ago, and now it’s back here.”
Turbowitz said the company does a lot of high level modeling, particularly for pharmaceutical industries.
“It is establishing how many sales reps would be needed based on how many hospitals are in the area,” he said.
But most importantly, with these businesses moving to Bridgewater Turbowitz said, this will be a positive step for the township’s economy.
“These will bring lots of employment,” he said. “And [with them], the Microsoft Store will be bringing tremendous employment.”
