A Bridgewater man out on parole after being convicted 10 years ago for sexually assaulting a child was arrested Monday for possession of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

David W. Tuytjens, 56, was found with child pornography on his computer and on DVDs in his Bridgewater residence, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman. Tuytjens was expected to appear in court later Monday.

According to the criminal complaint, officers from the N.J. State Parole Board examined Tuytjens' laptop computer during a visit to his home in April 2011. The officers determined the computer contained "multiple images of child pornography, which appeared to have been downloaded from the Internet," the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

The officers also found nine DVDs containing pictures and videos of sexual abuse of children, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Tuytjens was arrested Monday "upon his release from state prison on violation of his parole on state charges," a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Tuytjens was convicted in 2002 of first-degree aggravated sexual assault for having sex with someone under the age of 13 and second-degree sexual assault for committing an act of sexual contact with a victim under the age of 13 and for being more than four years older than the victim, according to a criminal complaint.

Tuytjens was sentenced on July 24, 2002 to 13 years in prison for the aggravated sexual assault and six years for the sexual assault, with the sentences run concurrently, also to community supervision for life, the criminal complaint said.

Because of Tuytjens' prior conviction on sexual assault charges, the child pornography charge carries a minimum penalty of 10 years and up to 20 years in prison if convicted, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. Tuytjens could also face a $250,000 fine.
