DSW to Open at Former Borders Location

We want to know what you think of this new business.

Close to a year after Borders closed its location on Commons Way, a new store is finally making its way to that location—DSW Shoe Warehouse.

The large shoe conglomerate will be taking over the location, although an opening date has not yet been determined.

Howard Turbowitz, the township's economic development officer, said construction has not yet begun on the new store, but that it will be coming to the former Borders location.

In the past, readers have said they would love to see a Trader Joe's at the location, as well as the possibility of a Whole Foods, TJs and much more.

So, Bridgewater, what do you think? Is DSW a good fit for the Commons Way building?

Absolutely not!!!

I would much prefer a Trader Joe's along with a cafe/pastry shop and bakery with in- and outdoor seating.

Anything is better than an empty store.

Yeah, great location for same.

I think Trader Joe's is better suited to be in the new shopping center going up on Route 22 East just East of Milltown Road. There is already enough traffic in that area from the Mall and Retail Stores, Trader Joe's would really grid lock that area near the mall, especially at the holidays.

Did I miss some news? Was the pharmacy formally approved? Something seems to have been in the early stages of construction for year now.

I used to visit that shopping center at least once a week when Border's was there, and would check out TJ Maxx and Best Buy while I was there. A shoe store is not going to draw me to that little mall more than two or three times a year. Trader Joe's would be another matter, again at least once a week. Oh well, let's hope we can entice a Trader Joe's to Bridgewater before one lands at the A&P site in Pluckemin once A&P goes away, or fills an empty Pathmark at the Kohl's shopping center or the one in Manville.

A Trader Joe's would be great, but I am SO excited to have a DSW in town. I hope they open for the summer.

Love to have a Trader Joe's. I would not care much about a shoe store - there is plenty of shoe stores right across at the mall.
