Easter Egg Hunts and Healthy Options for Kids

Performances abound in Morris County, and Bridgewater's got some great healthy options both for the body and mind this weekend. If you're looking for a great way to spend an afternoon, look no further than the following list.

Below is the combination of our weekly pick of weekend activities and our Grab & Go Kids Planner, offering both fun weekend activities and great family-friendly fun at the same time.

Here are this week's picks:

Voices in The Night
Where/When: Friday, April 15 at the Lord Stirling Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge at 7 p.m. 
Why Go: You'll hold tight to your family's and friends' hands as you learn not everything you hear at night is scary.
Pricing:  $7 per adult, or $6 per youth or senior 

Spring Plant Sale & Earth Day Celebration
Where/When: April 16 and 17 at The Leonard J. Buck Garden in Far Hills.  Saturday hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday hours are from noon to 5 p.m.
Why Go: You'll enjoy the spring air and Earth Day celebration with a guided tour of the naturalistic rock garden, and you can bring some perennials home to continue the beauty.
Pricing: Free

Johnny Mathis
Where/When: 8 p.m. at the Community Theatre in Morristown on Thursday, April 14.
Why Go: Because you’re a fan of Mathis, who has been performing since the 1950s, when he appeared on the "Ed Sullivan Show."
Pricing: Tickets range from $85 to $150. 

Moonlight Hike
Where/When: From 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15 at the Morristown National Historical Park.
Why Go: Because this hike, hosted by the Great Swamp Watershed Association, will include games to learn more about sharpening our senses at night.
Pricing: Fee for non-members: $10 per adult; $5 per child 5 or older; $30 per family.

Skate for Love
Where/When: 7 p.m. at the William G. Mennen Sports Arena in Morris Township on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization that combats breast cancer and provides funding for research. Also, it’s a chance to see some figure skating stars.
Pricing: $20 for general admission seating.

GRAB & GO KIDS PLANNER

Storytime With a Visit From Toot and Puddle
Where/When:  Sunday, April 17 at the Bridgewater Barnes & Noble Booksellers at 11:30 a.m.
Why Go: To hear stories of two young pigs who share a special friendship and endless curiosity about the world around them. Don't forget to bring your camera for pictures.
Pricing: Free

YMCA Healthy Kids Day
Where/When: Saturday, April 16 at all branch locations of The Somerset Valley YMCA.
Why Go: It's a fun-filled day promoting healthy kids with information to help plan a summer filled with activity. 
Pricing: Free

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
Where/When: Saturday, April 16 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. 3.
Why Go: It's an egg-stra special breakfast buffet with the Bunny. Call for reservations.
Pricing: $9 per ticket

Egg-Stravaganza
Where/When: Sunday, April 17 at the Lord Stirling Park Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge. Two sessions will be held: 10 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Why Go: Children ages 3 to 6 will learn about all kinds of eggs from animals. An Easter Egg hunt and coloring will be part of the fun.
Pricing: $20 per pair, and $10 per additional child. Registration is necessary.

Second Annual Spring Egg Hunt & Wagon/Bike Parade
Where/When: Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m.  The parade will begin at the Warren Township Municipal Complex parking lot and the Egg Hunt will be at the Warren Township Pavilion.
Why Go: To celebrate the holiday with neighborhood friends. And who doesn't love a parade?
Pricing: $5 per child for the Egg Hunt. Entrance to parade is free.
