Here are this week's picks:
Free Youth Protection Training
When/Where: Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School.
Why Go: To work with the Patriots’ Path Council of the Boy Scouts of America to learn about protection services and how to combat child abuse.
Friends Concert Featuring Simple Gifts
When/Where: Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater Township Library.
Why Go: To spend an evening listening to a variety of songs and instruments by Simple Gifts at the library.
National Day of Puppetry
When/Where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at the 4-H Center on Milltown Road.
Why Go: To celebrate a day about marionettes and puppets with the Garden State Puppetry Guild that will host different workshops to learn about using puppets, while also hosting performances of this fun art.
GSHNJ Queen of Cakes
When/Where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Somerset County Vocational & Technical School.
Why Go: To learn how to bake as the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey and Cakes Unlimited present a program to help them earn the Cooking Badge as they learn the secrets of cake decorating and baking.
Bradley Gardens Little Loop Opening Ceremony
When/Where: Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Ardmaer Park.
Why Go: To support the more than 300 baseball players who are part of the program with the kickoff ceremonies and a celebration of the program.
When/Where: Saturday at 5 p.m. at St. Ann's School in Raritan.
Why Go: To bid on more than 300 baskets, some with prizes valued at more than $500, and to support the school.
Temple Sholom Casino Night
When/Where: Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center on Talamini Road in Bridgewater.
Why Go: To participate in a fundraiser that includes a poker tournament and other table games.
JCC Mah Jongg Tournament
When/Where: Sunday at 9:45 a.m. at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center on Talamini Road in Bridgewater.
Why Go: To take part in a fundraiser that will benefit the JCC Scholarship Fund. Cash prizes will be awarded, and lunch will be served.
BRHS Team 303 Book Fair
When/Where: Sunday at 2 p.m. at Barnes and Noble in Bridgewater.
Why Go: To benefit the FIRST Robotics Team 303, as representatives will be on hand to demonstrate their robot while also raising money through purchases at the store.
Cost: Free, except for the cost of whatever you buy.
