The year is off to a bit of a slow start, but that doesn't mean there aren't a few options for events like an open house and a Broadway-inspired play.

Below is the combination of our weekly pick of weekend activities and our Grab & Go Kids Planner, offering both fun weekend activities and great family-friendly fun at the same time.

Here are this week's picks:

YMCA Open House
When/Where: Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Somerset Valley YMCA in Somerville.
Why Go: To get information about the summer camp programs offered and meet the staff through the YMCA in Bridgewater, Hillsborough and Somerville.
Cost: Free

"Damn Yankees"
When/Where: Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Raritan Valley Community College.
Why Go: To see a great play about baseball in the midst of football and basketball season. And did we mention the play won many awards when it was on Broadway?
Cost: $37 and $47, depending on seat locations.

Olde Mill Inn Countywide Bridal Showcase
When/Where:
Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Olde Mill Inn on Route 202 in Basking Ridge.
Why Go:
To tour the inn, sample the food and meet with vendors who can help make your wedding day a great success.
Cost:
Free

Buffalo Project band at Hennessey's
When/Where: Saturday at 9 p.m. at Hennessey's Washington Bar, Morristown.
Why Go: You want to hear a live band performing covers from the 70s to today while enjoying a beer or three.
Cost: No cover

Comedian Bobby Collins
When/Where: Friday at 8 p.m. at Mayo Performing Arts Center, Morristown.
Why Go: You want a little more funny in your life.
Cost: $37 to $57
