Obit: Finderne Fire Captain Succumbs to Cancer

James Schupper passed away Monday.

 

James Schupper, captain of the Finderne Volunteer Fire Company, died Monday after a battle with cancer.

Schupper, son of the late James Schupper Sr. and Frances Schupper, passed away in his home in Bridgewater, where he lived for more than 16 years, according to an obituary with the Bridgewater Funeral Home.

According to the obituary, Schupper was born in Somerville, and worked as a foreman with the Bound Brook Public Works Department for 25 years.

In his family life, the obituary said, Schupper enjoyed attending his daughter's dance competitions, collecting baseball cards and supprting the NY Giants, NY Yankees and NJ Devils.

Schupper served as captain of the Bound Brook Fire Department for 17 years, and was serving as captain of the Finderne Volunteer Fire Company when he passed, having been a member for six years.

Schupper is pre-deceased by his father-in-law, Edward Kaladas.

Schupper is survived by his wife of 21 years, Debra; daughter Elizabeth; son James; brother Thomas and wife Leslie; nephews Nathaniel and Joseph; mother-in-law Rosalie Kaladas; sisters-in-law Diane Demetris and husband Larry, and Donna Meeks and husband John; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and the members of the fire department.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bridgewater Funeral Home on East Main Street. Prayers will be said at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at St. Joseph's Church in Bound Brook. Schupper will be buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Finderne Volunteer Fire Company, Bound Brook Fire Department or Elizabeth Schupper's Scholarship Fund via Debra Schupper at 6 Manville Blvd, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
