Panthers Win County Field Hockey Championship

Bridgewater-Raritan defeats previously unbeaten Bernards.

 

In a 4-1 victory, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School field hockey team defeated Bernards to capture the Somerset County Tournament championship Saturday at Mount Saint Mary's Academy.

At the end of the game, senior forward Christine Germaske, who had a goal and two assists, was named the most valuable player of the championship game.

BR—16-0, ranked No. 2 by The Star Ledger

Bernards—14-1-1, ranked No. 20 by The Star Ledger

Catherine Caro—two goals

Rachel Yaney—one goal

Christine Germaske—one goal and two assists

Goalie Christen Piersanti—12 saves
