Patch Asks: How Do You and Your Families Beat the Heat?

Patch invites moms and all residents to stop by for a chat about topics that matter to them.

Patch invites you and your circle of friends to help build a community of support for mothers and their families right here in Somerset County.

Each week in Moms Talk, our Moms Council of experts and smart moms take your questions, give advice and share solutions.

Have a question you would like to share, or just want to provide your opinion on the question of the week? Head over to the comments section to do just that.

So grab a cup of coffee and settle in as we start the conversation today with a question from your Patch editors:

This week has been high in heat and low in relief. We know it's summer and we can expect the temperatures to rise, but that doesn't mean we're prepared when they do.

And many of us don't like to be outside in the heat because of the risk of overheating, sunburn and other maladies.

So the question is, how do you beat the heat in the middle of the summer, and what do you do with your families to have a good time no matter what?

The pool is a great escape from the heat but sometimes it's even too hot to be out there! Reading or watching a movie can help for a couple of hours and crafts are fun too if your kids are into it. It's really cool in the movie theaters and there is always the mall or better yet...the children's section at the library:o)
