Power Slowly Returning to Bridgewater

Both PSE&G and JCP&L outages are slowly dwindling.

Despite thousands of people still being without power across the state, residents in Bridgewater are very slowly seeing it come back as the week continues.

For example, according to resident Gerry Szachara, who posted on the Bridgewater Patch Facebook page, power returned to the Finderne section of town Wednesday morning.

Here are the numbers as they stand, according to the power companies:

  • PSE&G is reporting that there are now between 5,001 and 10,000 people without power in Bridgewater alone—this is down from more than 10,000 when the storm first hit.
  • JCP&L is reporting that 2,180 people are without power, down from 2,345 at the height of the storm Tuesday.

These figures are all as of 10 a.m. Thursday.

Many businesses in town still remain dark Thursday, including several stores at the Village at Commons.

The municipal building remains without power, but is open Thursday until 2 p.m., using natural light to help with time sensitive issues.

Milltown Primary School is the only one in the district that currently has power, but the entire district will remain closed for now because of both the power issues and concerns over road safety.

I just checked the PSEG website and Bridewater is still greater than 10,000 on their outage map - it HASNT changed!!!! There are trees still leaning on many power lines in the northern section, with NO trucks in sight. Our ETR has changed from Mon to Wed (though no email or phone update like they said there would be)

The Sunset Lake area is still without power. Lines are down and and trees are also down
blocking some streets so residents can't leave. This is a serious situation since emergency vehicles can't get through to these people if needed.
