Team Buttocks Holding Fundraiser for Bikeathon

The fundraiser will be held in Whitehouse.

Team Buttocks, a local cycling team, is preparing to raise money as it gets ready for the Coast the Coast 50-mile bikeathon May 18.

The bikeathon will begin at Monmouth University in Long Branch, and there are currently 44 members registered from Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Branchburg, Millstone and more towns.

The members of Team Buttocks are raising money for multiple sclerosis research through bicycle races.

This year, the team members will be riding 50 miles in the National Multiple Sclerosis bikeathon.

To prepare for the upcoming race, members of Team Buttocks are hosting a fundraiser night at The Rail Restaurant in Whitehouse on April 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.

“That restaurant is owned in part by a Bridgewater resident, Brian Carter,” said Team Buttocks captain Jules Mauro.

On that day, Mauro said, the restaurant will be donating 10 percent of the entire day’s and night’s purchases to the National MS Society on behalf of the team.

Those who head to the restaurant April 23 only need to mention to servers and bartenders that they are supporting Team Buttocks and the MS fundraiser, and the money will be donated.

If you would like to make a donation separately, send a check made out to National MS Society to Jules Mauro, 29 Elmara Drive, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

Memberes of Team Buttocks include Eisenhower Intermediate School teacher, and multiple sclerosis sufferer, Roberta Maher; Bridgewater-Raritan High School nurse and Bridgewater resident Alice Hadley; Somerset Medical Center cardiologist and Bridgewater resident Steven Georgeson; and Garden State Adventure Boot Camp owner Sherree Hoskins.

Also on the team are CPA Mark Mauro, who has a practice in Somerville; and founding members, and Bridgewater residents, Judy Hummer, Jules Mauro and James Winship.

This year is Jules Mauro’s 14th year being involved in the bikeathon.

Team Buttocks, in its 14 years, has ranked seventh out of 20 teams in fundraising after raising $24,000.
