UPDATE: Car Engine Catches Fire, No Injuries

Country Club Road at Route 28 was closed for about an hour.

 

No injuries were reported after a car engine caught on fire at the intersection of Route 28 and Country Club Road Wednesday, according to Raritan Borough Police Sgt. Raymond Nolte.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m., and shut down the portion of Country Club Road at the Route 28 intersection until about 9:12 p.m. when the vehicle was towed away.

"The engine caught on fire," Nolte said. "A good portion of the front end caught on fire."

In the incident though, Nolte said, there were no injuries reported.

A little bit of fire could be seen in the roadway on Route 28 after the incident.

The entire road was reopened after the car was towed away around 9:12 p.m.

The police department has not released the name of the driver of the vehicle.
