UPDATE: Motorcyclist Still in Surgical ICU

A Brooklyn man is still in the surgical intensive care unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital after a motorcycle accident on Route 287 Sunday evening.
Edwin Rivera, 42, is still at the hospital, according to a representative from Robert Wood Johnson, after he suffered critical injuries to his extremities in the accident that occurred at about 7:30 p.m.
According to New Jersey State Trooper Christopher Kay, there is no further information about the cause of the accident itself.
What is known at this point, Kay said, is that Rivera was driving his motorcycle at speeds exceeding the speed limit when a white Hyundai entered his lane. Kay said Rivera lost control of his motorcycle and struck a metal guardrail.
The investigation into the accident is still continuing, Kay said.

edwin was not driving at excessive speed cause a woman an a silver Hyundai cut him off . we have video to prove it !!!! And we have eye witness to prove it also

wow there are no word to explain how the media and police department stray away from the truth...they continue to write completly false stories on how it actually happened...its such a shame that they have nothing better to do then to write a third article saying he was going at excessive speeds...PLEASE GET THE STORY STRAIGHT BEFORE WRITING A FOURTH ARTICLE WITH VERY FALSE INFORMATION...the people who were there an those of us who saw the video can give the truthful story and then it can be printed...stop making it seem as if it were his fault and let him go through the recovery with his friends and family...i really hope justice is served for him...no one deserves what hes going through...edwin we love you and you are in our thoughts and prayers...see you soon buddy

I Was there he went flying past me and I was going 5 over the speed limit. He cut me off so close I had to hit the brakes.

I'm quite surprised he survived. I was driving in one of the cars his group had just passed and was convinced the guy at the back was going to crash since he was riding like a complete asshole splitting lanes at over 100 mph in 70 mph traffic. To be honest his whole Club was wreckless and should all be held responsible for his wreck. I've ridden for 20 years on all types of bikes including sport bikes and could easily see a crash was coming. Then in 2 miles a cloud of dirt, a lifeless body, and a bike on fire. I will say I'm sure Edwin is a great guy with a huge heart, but he should reconsider ever getting on a bike again. He will not be the last accident in the group I saw him riding with. It's riding like that, that puts vinyl decals all over the back of cars remembering a family member or loved one day in and day out.

everyone who rides or wants to ride should definately take a rider ed class...maybe then they will learn and courtesy and safety....a lot of riders have no preception of consequences of recklessness and carelessness until it's too late.
