A car caught on fire Wednesday evening near the intersection of Route 28 and Country Club Road on the Bridgewater-Raritan border.

There were visible flames coming from under the hood of a gray four-door sedan as a motorist passed the intersection at about 8 p.m. (see contributed video). There were also flames seen along the roadway and coming from beneath the car.

No one appeared to be inside the car when the video was shot.

The section of Country Club Road near the intersection of Route 28 was closed for about an hour while the vehicle was towed away.

The investigation is being handled by Raritan Borough Police.
