Cashier Used Customer's Gift Card, Police Say
The gift card was left behind by a customer at Express, according to authorities.
A Somerset resident, and employee at Express in the Bridgewater Commons Mall, was arrested after she allegedly used a gift card purchased by a customer.
Jessie Baksh, 21, was charged with theft at about 2:52 p.m. Oct. 9 after it was discovered that she had purchased items using a stolen gift card for the store, according to Bridgewater Township Police Lt. Al Nicaretta.
During a transaction on Oct. 6, according to Nicaretta, Baksh put $99.79 in store credit on a gift card for a customer. But after the customer left the store, Nicaretta said, Baksh noticed that she had left it behind.
According to Nicaretta, Baksh took the card and purchased items with it at an Express store in Woodbridge on Oct. 7.
Baksh was processed and released.
