On June 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., we will celebrate Hillside Intermediate School’s Roots & Shoots program and the 15th anniversary of our backyard meadows and trails with our annual Forest Fest event. It will be a day full of activities featuring animals, make-and-take booths, live entertainment, environmental information and delicious food to raise funds to support Hillside’s Meadows and Trails.

An array of informational stations will offer materials, lessons and activities about our local and global environments. Represented will be the Jane Goodall Institute, Lakota Wolf Preserve, Somerset County 4H clubs, Students Raising Students, Horse Rescue, Autism Awareness, Seeing Eye, Girl Scout Troops, Hillside's own Roots & Shoots program participants and many more! Student members of our district community will conclude our exciting afternoon with a special variety show in our all-purpose room at 2:15 p.m.

Students at Hillside Intermediate School are structured into different teams, with four to six teachers on the same schedules, to participate in cycles, instrumental music, enrichment programs and other activities. The students also take classes that include language arts, mathematics, social studies and science, health, technology, environmental science and Spanish cultures. Through all programs, students use research and technology skills, which are the focus of the school's media specialist and computer teachers.
