Bill Levy, teacher, author, film historian and humorist,
will present a free program, “Musical Gems Part I & II” at the Bridgewater/Somerset County
Library at 10 a.m. today.
Levy will talk about forgotten gems from the Golden Era of Hollywood with clips from movies such as “Carefree,” “Flower Drum Song,” “Brigadoon,” “Calamity Jane,” “The Pajama Game,” “ I Married an Angel,” “Deep in My Heart,” “Here Come the Waves,” “Lovely to Look At,” “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” “Pardon My Sarong,” “Here Comes the Groom,” and “The Stork Club.”
Levy has been publishing his humor columns (“Levy’s Wry”) since 1980 and his movie columns on overlooked/overshadowed vintage films (“Forgotten Gems”) since 1987.
For the past ten tears, he has been offering diverse programs to libraries, seniors, men and women’s organizations, and other audiences. These presentations include his “Bringing Back Those Movie Memories” programs that feature discussions of classic films and movie stars, as well as such presentations on “Utilizing Humor to Combat and Conquer Stress,” “To Kill a Mockingbird: A Rarity – A Great Book and a Great Movie,” and “Stimulating Your Brain Through Puzzles and Games.”
