School Budget Outlook on Board's Agenda Today in Bridgewater

Also, high school swimmers will take on Hillsborough.

The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. tonight, although the board's public meeting doesn't begin until 8 p.m.

Once started, the meeting will include a budget presentation by Acting Superintendent Cheryl Dyer and Business Administrator Peter Starrs, giving residents an update on the district's planning.

With the change to the November elections for school board members, school budgets no longer require voter approval (unless the proposed budget exceeds the 2 percent tax levy cap or includes a referendum for projects). As a result, the board will begin discussing the budget with an eye towards submitting a proposal for the 2014-1015 school year by March.

Tonight's meeting may give a peek into what to look forward to.
