Basking Ridge, NJ (April 17, 2014) – Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation raised money for the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey through their no-shave Mo-VEMBER efforts.

The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (www.cinj.org) is the state’s first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center dedicated to improving the detection, treatment and care of patients with cancer, and serving as an education resource for cancer prevention.

John Fenton, CEO, and Joe Herbst, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, took part in the no-shave event by turning it into a competition of who could go longer without shaving. Other Affinity employees got involved by choosing a team and making daily pledges. Employees on the winning team were entitled to a free jeans day, which allowed them to wear jeans to work on a specifically designated date.

In the end, it was a win-win for both competitors and employees who raised $5,000. On Monday, March 31, Affinity employees presented a check to Dr. Eric Singer, part of RCINJ’s Prostate Cancer Program, with a check in support of the Institute’s free prostate cancer screening program.
