Foodbank Network Presents "A Place at the Table"

In 2010, the US exported about  $115 billion in agriculture products—about 25 percent of total US production, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Despite the abundance, the USDA also notes more than 14 percent of US households experienced a period of “food insecurity,” defined as experiencing a lack of “enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members.”

Documentarians Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush delved into food insecurity and the nation’s food industry in their 2012 film, “A Place at the Table,” finding surprising reasons for the growing number of families experiencing such difficult times.

The Foodbank Network of Somerset County invites everyone to a free screening of the film at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, 45 Church St. in Liberty Corner.

A discussion of hunger issues will follow the show.
