Mayor Hayes Invites All Residents to Attend Fitness 5k and Community Walk/Fun Run

Bridgewater Township Mayor Day Hayes invites all residents to join in a morning of fun and fitness and participate in the "Strive for 5" Competitive 5K Run and 1/2 Mile Community Fun Run/Walk. The event,in support of Bridgewater Baseball, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 27 April at Duke Island Park. The park is located at 189 Old York Road, Bridgewater.

The 1/2 mile community fun run or walk has been certified pet-friendly and is scheduled to take place at 8:30 AM with the USATF Certified 5K scheduled to take place at 9:00 AM. Pre-registration is requested but not necessary to participate. Registration the day of the event will open at 7:30 AM at Duke Island Park. Medals will be awarded to the 1st through 3rd place runners in all age groups as well as the overall time category for the 5K. All children that participate in the fun run or walk will receive medals and t-shirts. Dog walkers may register for the fun run/walk but are not eligible to participate for safety reasons in the 5K competition. Dogs that participate in the fun run or walk will be eligible to receive a "Bridgewater Green" bandana from Mayor Dan Hayes. The entry fee for the 5K is $25.00 while the fee for the fun run/walk is a nominal $10.00. All proceeds collected will go to support the Bridgewater Baseball Athletic League.

Please note the event will also include a DJ and a series of health and fitness exhibitors. The Somerset Regional Animal Shelter will be on hand to offer security micro-chipping services for all pets. The fee for micro-chipping services will be $25.00. Dog walkers are requested to reference the name of their pet on the registration form for the fun run/walk. Pet owners are reminded that all dogs must be restrained on a secure leash and accompanied by an adult. All residents are reminded this program is a Tobacco-Free Event as per Township Ordinance and Somerset County Park Commission Policy.
