5 Offerings of the Bridgewater Library System

Today, the is holding the first of several opportunities throughout the week to express thoughts on the Somerset County Library System. Sessions will be held Tuesday in Meeting Room C from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Wednesday in the Lobby from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.; Thursday in meeting rooms B and C from 2 p.m. 4 p.m.; and Saturday,  in meeting rooms A, B and C from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. So today, we present five things to know about the Somerset County Library System.

  • Somerset County Library Commission—The commission is made up of seven Somerset County residents who set all policies for the library system. Commissioners serve for five years, and are appointed by the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
  • Friends of the Bridgewater Library—This organization is made up of residents wanting to fundraise for the library itself. They also sponsor programs for the library and encourage others in the community to use the library. There is a separate section for each library in the system.
  • Home Delivery—The Somerset County Library System offers an opportunity for those who are unable to visit the library in person. The system offers delivery services of books, CDs and other materials.
  • Library Cards—A library card obtained through the Somerset County Library System can be used in any of the system's branches, namely Bound Brook, Branchburg, Bridgewater, Warren, Hillsborough, Mary Jacobs, North Plainfield, Peapack & Gladstone, Somerville and Watchung.
  • Interlibrary Loan—The Somerset County Library System offers an opportunity to borrow books and other materials from libraries that are not part of the system.
