Bridgewater Rec Department 5th and 6th Grade Basketball Team!

  • Names: Jason Sekora, Doug Laputka, Matthew Ray, Justin Cassidy, Tyler Kim, Kush Dani, Tim Schwed, Jacob Wright, Daniel Gutman and Andrew Cabeza-Pimentel
  • Whiz Kids' Ages: Fifth and Sixth graders from Eisenhower and Hillside intermediate schools
  • Community Organization: Bridgewater Recreation Department
  • Accomplishment: The team was undefeated 10-0 until its last game where the boys lost the championship and finished the basketball season 10-1, as the runner-up.
  • Key to Awesomeness: The team has always remained enthusiastic, always committed to the team and to the game. Most importantly, the boys had great sportsmanship. They went undefeated in the regular season. The championship game was a great one, but a tough loss. But despite being sad about the loss, each boy held his head up high. They team members received two medals each and were so proud to wear them. Coaches Ken Sekora and Ken Laputka, with help from John Cassidy, always remained positive and encouraging, teaching the game, sportsmanship and respect to the boys, while the parents were loyal and excited fans.
  • Nominator: Kim Sekora, Bridgewater parent
