Camps, Cats and Chocolates

Looking for exciting weekend activities and family-friendly fun? You're in the right place.

This weekend is filled with open houses about the local Vo-Tech, and an informational session about the many camps available in our area.

Below is the combination of our weekly pick of weekend activities and our Grab & Go Kids Planner, offering both fun weekend activities and great family-friendly fun at the same time.

Vo-Tech Open House
When/Where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at the on Vogt Drive in Bridgewater.
Why Go: To check out the offerings of the Vo-Tech, and take part in a celebration of Career and Technical Education Month, as students lead campus tours, demonstrate what they have learned and take part in a Skills USA competition.
Cost: Free

Meow-Wow 2012 Cat Show
When/Where: Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the on Milltown Road in Bridgewater.
Why Go: Because who doesn't love cute kittens? Check out the Whiskers, Paws & Claws 4-H Club as the top felines compete in the Meow-Wow Cat Show.
Cost: $2

Carol's Creative Chocolatez
When/Where: Saturday at 2 p.m. at the .
Why Go: There is nothing better than a little bit of chocolate. Come out to learn about the candy, taste samples and look at some award-winning edible chocolate paintings.
Cost: Free, but registration is required by either calling 908-526-4016, ext. 105, or visiting the Adult Reference Desk.

NJ Camp Fairs
When/Where: Sunday at 12 p.m. at the .
Why Go: Because there are so many camps to choose from, and we could all use a little help. Camp directors will be on hand to give free DVDs about the programs, free brochures, possible jobs and other giveaways. There will be many different camps represented, including day, overnight, adventure, computer, special interest, baseball, soccer and others. Lovin' Cole: A Cole Porter Revue
When/Where: Performances are at 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday at at 140 South Finley Ave in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Because you don't have to go far to see Ridge Light Opera of New Jersey's original production of Lovin' Cole, a Cole Porter revue of the American composer's music in a cabaret setting.
Cost: Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students, and are available online.

NJ Young Professionals Cocktail Party
When/Where
: Friday at 7 p.m. at the 185 Madisonville Road, Basking Ridge.
Why Go
: Are you a local young professional interested in a fun night out that will also benefit the United Way of Northern New Jersey? Join the United Way for the Third Annual Cocktail Party, and dance all night long to music played by award-winning DJ Paul Anthony or possibly work on a project for someone in need.
