Drama Club Director Joan Aniano says that if you could spend just 10 minutes with the "insanely talented" Bridgewater-Raritan High School Drama Club students, you would understand why they merit a little extra support for their upcoming production of Beauty and the Beast.

"They love performing, and are more than happy to put on shows with minimal sets and costumes, but 'Beauty and the Beast' calls for some special items," said Aniano on her GoFundMe campaign page. "An extra $1,000 would help defray the costs for rental items like costumes, the enchanted rose and magical mirror." The cost of renting those two items is $465; the rest of the money will be used for makeup for the Beast and other costume specialty items, she said.

As of Jan. 13, the fund had already attracted 15 donations totaling $500 in a week from high school alumni, family members and theater colleagues. A contribution of $15 gets a note of gratitude in the program; $40 a quarter-page ad for a business; $60 for a half-page ad; $90 for a full page and $140 for the inside or back cover.

Aniano, who recently married and is also now known as Joan Schubin, commented on the page Sunday that she was "jumping for joy."

"With the help of two donors today, we have reached $500 and are halfway to our set goal! I can't stop smiling—thank you so much!! Onward to the next 50 percent!" she wrote.

The show will be presented on May 1-2 at 7 p.m.; and on May 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The May 3 afternoon show will be performed by the actors in the understudy roles.
