Press release:

The Somerset County Senior Wellness Center, located at 202 Mount Airy Road, will offer a six-week Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program for individuals aged 60 and over on Monday afternoons starting June 9.

The sessions will occur from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on June 9, 16, 23, and 30, and July 7 and 14. The cost for the six-week program is $30. Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi classes are suitable for every fitness level.

Space is limited, and advance registration is requested. To obtain a registration form, call(908) 704-6346.  Payment and completed registration forms should be mailed prior to the first class to Barbara Karpinski, Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, PO Box 3000, Somerville NJ 08876. Checks can be made payable to the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services (SCOOADS).

The Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program uses gentle Sun-style Tai Chi routines that are safe, easy to learn, and accessible for individuals at any fitness level. Tai Chi may help reduce stress, increase balance and flexibility, and induce relaxation. Each session includes warm-up and cool-down exercises, six core movements and six advance extension movements and direction changes to add challenge.
