Sports, Sports and Playgrounds Fill Summer Camp Roster

The Bridgewater Recreation Department is running several camps this summer.

It’s summertime, time for sun, fun … and summer camps!

Bridgewater Township is offering a mix of camp opportunities, all beginning Monday, and lasting for several weeks throughout the summer.

  • World Cup Wednesdays—For six Wednesdays throughout the summer, the township will be holding its program to teach techniques and train boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade in soccer. The camp is being held at the Crim Soccer Complex, on Crim Road, and will end with a World Cup tournament at the end of the six weeks. The camp sessions will be run by Dutch Total Soccer staff members, and is being run by the township’s recreation department. Bridgewater residents will pay $60 for four nights, or $70 for five to six nights; Raritan residents will pay $70 for four nights and $80 for more. Those who do not live in either town pay $100 for four nights and $110 for more.
  • Summer Goalkeeping—The Bridgewater United Soccer Club, in conjunction with the Dutch Total Soccer Goalkeeping Academy will be offering a summer program covering throwing, catching, punting, diving, break aways and more for soccer players. The program is for boys and girls entering second through ninth grades at Crim Soccer Complex. The program will be held on Monday evenings, from July 11 through Aug. 15. Bridgewater residents will pay $60 for four nights, or $70 for five to six nights; Raritan residents will pay $70 for four nights and $80 for more. Those who do not live in either town pay $100 for four nights and $110 for more.
  • Bridgewater Recreation Multi-Sports Camp—The camp is designed for boys and girls entering kindergarten through eighth grades, who enjoy all different kinds of sports, including soccer, wiffle ball, dodge ball, kick ball, blind volleyball, lacrosse, flag football, ultimate frisbee and others. The camp will be held at Crim Soccer Complex. The first session will be held Aug. 8 through Aug. 11, and the second will be held from Aug. 15 through Aug. 18. Bridgewater residents will pay $40 for kindergarten through first grade, and $60 for second through eighth grades; Raritan residents will pay $50 for kindergarten through first graders, and $70 for second through eighth graders. Those who do not live in either town pay $80 for kindergarten through first graders and $100 for second through eighth graders.
  • 2011 Pee-Wee Summer Playground—The summer playgrounds program begins July 11 and runs through Aug. 4 at from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and is for all students entering kindergarten. Fee for Bridgewater residents is $140, and $165 for Raritan residents. The purpose of the program is to improve social, cognitive and emotional functioning, and the program has a working relationship with the Somerset County Therapeutic Recreation Department.
  • 2011 Summer Playgrounds—Like the Pee-Wee program, this playground is in conjunction with the Somerset County Therapeutic Recreation Department and is for students entering the first through eighth grades. First, second and third graders will be at ; and fourth through eighth graders will be spread between , and . The program at Van Holten will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while it will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in all other schools. Bridgewater residents will pay $80, and Raritan residents will pay $105 for the older grades, and those at Van Holten will pay $100 for Bridgewater residents and $125 for Raritan residents.
