Bridgewater Director's Group to Perform at Avery Fisher Hall

Distinguished Concerts International New York City invited Ryan Guth and Viridis to perform in March.

Voiceworks Director Ryan Guth, now a music teacher at Marlboro Memorial Middle School, will be taking his school vocal group Viridis on a field trip in March: They've been invited to perform with composer Eric Whitacre at Avery Fisher Hall.

Guth, who operates Voiceworks in Martinsville, currently lives in Princeton.

Viridis, a group of selected high school vocalists, has been drawing praise for their skilled performances. The invitation to perform in New York comes from Distinguished Concerts International New York, a production company seeking to offer fine performances by young musicians in the city's finest venues, often including workshops and masterclasses for the students.

In the case of the March concert, the Viridis members will be able to study and perform with composer Eric Whitacre, composer-in-residence at Sidney Sussex College of Cambridge University.

Guth's group received the invitation after submitting recorded auditions.

Dr. Jonathan Griffith, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for DCINY states: “Viridis received this invitation because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers and the exceedingly high quality of their audition recordings," Dr. Jonathan Griffith, artistic director and principal conductor for DCINY, said. "These wonderful musicians not only represent a high quality of music and education, but they also become ambassadors for the entire community.”

The singers will spend five days and four nights in New York City in preparation for the concert.

Tickets for the March 30 concert will be available through the Distinguished Concerts website.
