Bridgewater's Terry O'Shea Leads in Jeopardy! College Championship

The winner will be determined in the final rounds Friday night. At stake is a $100,000 prize.

Terry O'Shea of Bridgewater continued to blow away her competition at the first day of the two-day Jeopardy College Championship finals match, with lightning fast answers delivered with her trademark shrug and demure smile.

At the close of the show Thursday night, after she cooly identified leaf blight, translated Alex Trebek's buttery French pronunciation of "Middle Ages," and recalled hip hop artist Jeezy was once known as "Young Jeezy," the Princeton sophomore finished the show well ahead of her two competitors by confidently nailing a reference to Thoreau.

One can imagine the pride it brought to her English teachers at the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District, where she graduated as a top student in 2012.

O'Shea continues to compete in the final round Friday night sporting Princeton orange with $19,800 in the bank. Tucker Pope of Texas A&M is at $14,800, and Kevin Shen of UC Berkeley is at $8,765.

The totals won by the contestants will be added to tomorrow's totals to determine the winner of a $100,000 prize.

The show airs on WABC-TV at 7 p.m.
