Classic Jersey Doo-Wop Group Performs Free at Park

The Duprees were the other Jersey Boys.

If you don’t want to pay to see a classic American singing group, don’t want to battle the traffic or take a shuttle bus from a parking lot that’s miles away, you can come to Duke Island Park on Sunday night to see a truly classic and classy act.

The Duprees, one of the best doo-wop groups of the early sixties, will give a free concert 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Duke Island Park on Old York Park. The performance is part of the Somerset County Park Commission Free Summer Concert Series.

The Duprees are world famous for their romantic interpretations of some of the most beautiful love songs ever written.  Hailing from Jersey City, The Duprees first struck gold with “You Belong to Me” in 1962.

Their unmistakable sound was born, and the hits kept rolling, including “Have You Heard,” “My Own True Love” and “Goodnight My Love.”

With 40 years in the recording business, The Duprees have never slowed down, still touring and recording after more than 50 years in the business

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring, picnic baskets, chairs and blankets. Ample and free parking is available.
