Duprees' Rained-out Concert Rescheduled for Sept. 8

Classic 1960s group will perform free concert at Duke Island.

Sunday evening’s torrential rains caused the cancellation of the free concert featuring the classic early 1960s doo-wop group, The Duprees, at Duke Island Park on Old York Road.

The concert has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, National Grandparents Day. The concert is a great way to spend some time with your grandparents and experience the music when they were young (or younger).

The Duprees are world famous for their romantic interpretations of some of the most beautiful love songs ever written.  Hailing from Jersey City, The Duprees first struck gold with “You Belong to Me” in 1962.

Their unmistakable sound was born, and the hits kept rolling, including “Have You Heard,” “My Own True Love” and “Goodnight My Love.”

With 50 years in the recording business, The Duprees have never slowed down and are still touring and recording after more than 50 years in the business
