Open Mic Night Gives Local Performers a Stage

Bridgewater Township Library provides opportunity to singers, poets and comedians.

The Bridgewater Township Library was filled with the sounds of music, laughter and applause Thursday as it held its bi-weekly open mic night, the brainchild of librarian and musician Kyle Pucciarello.

"At the turn of the year, I wanted to do something that had to do with music and the arts," Pucciarello said. "There are a lack of these kinds of opportunities for performers. And I thought, what better place than the library."

The program has been running about five months with participation growing from 25 to as many as 65 people with 16 performers.

"It is a treat to come every two weeks and do this," Pucciarello said.

The next open mic night will be August 9 at 7 p.m. in the library's meeting room.
