week 6 recap

an exciting week 6 in the Bridgewater Football League.

Flag White and Flag Red, battled it for 1 solid hour of pure rough’in tough’in football.  It was difficult for the White team not having the “Manager of the Year” in attendance due to his anniversary but the White team found a way to rally due to the circumstances.

JB (Bray) led the white team with a first quarter QB sneak following the blocking of Jack Lanum.  Lucas Travisano had a long run for a TD while the Offensive Line opened a big hole.  There was a last quarter interception by Cameron ”sure hands”  Kurdyla to solidify the tie.

Flag silver scored 3 times vs watchung, runs by Daine Kostes, Ethan Flynn and Jordan Johnson Once again the defense played tough only giving up one touchdown. They were led by Cole Kostes, Tristin Cruz and the  Locrotondo brothers.

Flag Red had a bye after 5 very exciting games which saw the team’s offense grow each week behind the QB play of Luke Bryson, RBs David Jefferson III and William Surett. None of the offense's successes wouldn't be possible without the work of the Offensive Line anchored by C Kohl Schroeder, OT Mason Francz, and TE Samuel Caliman. Timmy Gaffney brings versatility with playing both WR/TE positions.

On Defense the Flag Red sports a "roll call at the ball" mentality led by the DE's Tim Park, Matt Park and Douglas "Rudy" DeBue providing the pass rush with leading tacklers LB Logan James and LB Jake Pino both patrolling the running lanes. S Carlo "Palamalu" LaSpina and CB Corey Amerman bring the hustle as they seem to be around the ball every play.

Pee Wee Red

Brady Kurdyla led the team in rushing including a 40 yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the game. Quarterback Josh Williams did a great job directing the offense behind strong offensive line play by Will Stamato, Gregg Rosati and Tight End Sean Givens.

Defense

Linebacker Tommy Tremarco recovered a fumble deep stopping a Ridge at a critical part of the game. Cornerback Dylan Corsi and Defensive End Mike Lyne made several great tackles stopping potentially big gains by Ridge.

Patriot JV

Elijah Black had several strong runs; the defense shut out Hillsboro in the 2nd half and had several fumble recoveries and an interception by Zach Antanasov.

Skylands JV

The Defense led the way with 6 turnovers, including Interceptions by Nik Patella, Michael Lenskold, Miftar Hasanaj, and Jason Hinkle.  Michael Maciolek had several tackles for losses from his DE position, while Michael Carrube stuffed their inside running game from his Nose Tackle spot.   Aidan Monteiro, Jared Long, Johnny Confalone,  Foster Boone,  Jake Horowitz, and Luca Moscetti led a strong running game against a tough North Plainfield Defense.

Patriot Varsity Red – Bridgewater starting the game with a six play, 65 yard touchdown drive. From there, the defense held Hillsborough scoreless with a final score of 18 to 0.  The offense linemen led by Trevor Witzel, Aiden Perry, Chris Long, Shawn Johnson, Josh Glussky, Andrew Teller, Dylan McManus, Charles Bragg, Billy McClymont and Ethan Schwall were able to win the battle in the trenches all day allowing the back field led by Brandon Horvath,  Mark Imparato (2 rushing touchdowns), Navirit Singh (1 rushing  touchdown),  Joe Latarulo,  Justin Scorese and Michael Vargas to gain yards all day. The defensive lineman led by Chris Long, Trevor Witzel, David Bilia,  Phong Tran, Dylan McManus, Navirit Singh, Mark Imparato helped the linebackers Justin Scorese, Michael Vargas, and Shanmukha Akkapeddi and defensive backs Jake Maggio, Shannon Stewart, and Joel Dubowsky(Coming off the injured reserve list) helped the defense not allow a score all game and recover a failed punt attempt. Overall it was a great first win of the season and a game that was won on both sides of the ball by all players.

Skylands Varsity

Anthony Wood, Justin Bryant, and David Usewick scored, and Cole Chirichello had 2 TD passes.  Christian Conklin had an interception in his return from injury for the Varsity team.
