5 Things to Know About the T-Mobile Proposal

Tuesday is the next hearing for the T-Mobile cell tower application at the . There is the possibility of a vote being taken at the meeting, so, in preparation for that, we present five things to know about the cell tower proposal.

  • Tower at Fire Company—The application is for a 125-foot cell tower at the Green Knoll Volunteer Fire Company on North Bridge Street. Residents have opposed the application since it was first introduced in August 2010.
  • Lower Property Values—At the request of resident Joseph Kirk, the zoning board allowed for the residents to bring in an appraiser, who said that his research has found the tower would have a negative effect on property values in the community.
  • Appraiser Dispute—An said at the last meeting that the resident's expert has not evaluated all the circumstances, and it cannot be proven that the tower would actually affect property values.
  • Fixing a Small Gap—The tower is expected to cover areas on Foothill and Crim roads, as well as North Bridge Street and other places, totaling a 1.7-mile gap in town.
  • Other Alternatives—Residents have requested that T-Mobile look for other options to cover the gap in coverage instead of the tower, but the applicant has said none of the options would cover the gap.
