Bridgewater Burger King in 11th Year of Supporting The Jimmy Fund

There's never down time at the Bridgewater Burger King, on Finderne Avenue, especially when it is trying to help raise $1.2 million.

The restaurant is raising the money for The Jimmy Fund, which supports the fight against cancer for children and adults at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in Boston. The fund is working with A Chance for Kids, which also helps children who are being treated at the institute. 

"It is because of the compassion and support from the Burger King employees and their restaurant guests that we are able to move forward in our quest to effectively treat cancer, with the ultimate goal of developing cures," said Suzanne Fountain, director of The Jimmy Fund, in a press release about the fundraiser.

Customers of Burger King are able to help the cause by donating $1 at a participating Burger King, now through Sept. 6. Each guest that donates will be given a promotion card with the chance to win prizes ranging from a Caribbean vacation and airline tickets, to theme park admissions and Burger King food.

"The Burger King family around the world is dedicated to making a difference in the communities in which we work and live," said Ivette Diaz, director of corporate social responsibility with Burger King Corp., in the release.

Over the past 10 years, A Chance for Kids and participating restaurants have raised about $9 million for the fund. This year, 10 restaurants in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont are participating.
