Law Firm Offers Assistance to Individuals, Businesses

Radom & Wetter offers a range of services.

There are a lucky few people in this world who absolutely love what they do for a living, even when they are logging at least 50 hours each week—and Susan Radom and Mark Wetter, partners in Bridgewater law firm Radom and Wetter, are happy to be counted in this elite circle.

“I love being a lawyer,” said Radom, a graduate of Rutgers Law School, who has been practicing for more than 20 years. She represents individuals, businesses and community associations. “I thoroughly enjoy the intellectual stimulation and working my way through all kinds of problems."

In 1995, Radom partnered with Wetter to form the practice on Route 22 West.

Wetter, earned his law degree at the University of Bridgeport in 1986, and completed his undergraduate work at Rutgers University. He said what he loves about his work is the variety of people he meets in his practice.

“The legal challenges are quite varied as well," he said. "There are no two situations, though there may be similarities."

The firm handles a wide range of legal disputes related to real estate transactions, business law, land use, zoning and planning, community association law, landlord/tenant, personal injury, family law, municipal law, wills, estates and trusts, health care, general litigation, workers compensation and mediation and arbitration.

Radom said what she enjoys most is working with small to medium sized companies because of the variety of questions and issues that arise related to regulatory matters and contract disputes.

“The work is varied and very interesting,” said Radom, whose firm is a member of the Somerset Business Partnership.

Radom said the challenge for most business owners is keeping up with statutory and regulatory requirements and changes.

“Larger companies have legal departments available to them," she said. "Small and medium sized firms need to find law firms like us to act as their legal department."

“Small and medium sized business owners are, by definition, highly effective people or they wouldn’t be in business for themselves," she added. "They are used to thinking that they know or can figure out whatever they need to. But there is so much specialized knowledge involved with legal matters that they don’t know what they don’t know."

Radom said that this is why having a firm that caters to their specific needs is so important.

For Wetter, he said he especially enjoys providing counsel and advice to people in business, and providing representation for individual needs like adoption, custody, prenuptial advice and other family law matters.

While Radom lives in Warren County, she said Bridgewater is a perfect location for the practice that services clients around the state because it is centrally located and offers easy access to the major highways.

Radom said she has enjoyed having the practice grow over the course of 16 years, and enjoys the partnership she has with Wetter.

“We work very collaboratively, and that has made our partnership a very gratifying experience,” she said.

Every so often, Radom said, she hears about partnerships that are fraught with disharmony, and she feels especially lucky to have a working relationship that makes her work an enjoyable experience.

“While it’s indeed a tough job market, you can’t beat the intellectual stimulation and the challenges that a legal career offers,” she said of her advice for others looking to get into a law firm. “If you are willing to work hard and learn the profession, it is extremely gratifying.”

While it is very challenging, Radom said, she enjoys helping people who are facing enormous stresses and intimidated by the system find solutions.

“I think it takes a while to learn how to effectively deal with people who are challenged by circumstances that may have a profound effect on their finances, businesses and their lives,” she said. “It’s very important to effectively guide them through these difficult moments in their lives.”

The firm’s attorneys include Lawrence J. Nagy, Dona Feeney, Anne Buckley-Johnson and Peter Cipparulo III.

The firm also contributes to the community beyond offering legal services. Every year for the last 11 years, Radom & Wetter has co-sponsored the Family Fun Walk/Run held at to benefit the Hunterdon Cancer Foundation.

The event, which is held on the Saturday before Mother’s Day each year and co-sponsored by the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center, has contributed more than $250,000 to the foundation.

Radom said she is energized by the work of the firm’s attorneys.

“We enjoy a very collaborative working environment, and all of the attorneys have such a high degree of experience that we are able to utilize each other as resources,” she said.

Because the firm works in a variety of practice areas, Radom said, it is equipped to meet almost any need of its clients.

In addition to personal attention and offering the resources of a talented group of attorneys, Radom said the firm offers great value through affordable services that are especially suitable for small businesses and sole proprietors.

“We’re building long-lasting relationships with our clients,” she said.
