Gatsby Salon puts a focus on helping younger women battling cancer with fundraiser.

Millions of fans follow the trials and tribulations of the staff at the Gatsby Salon on Style TV's "Jerseylicious," but what doesn't always come across on TV is the staff's dedication to helping out.

Take Friday's Blowouts for the Cure, where the salon is prepared to give hundreds of customers blowout hair treatments for $25—a savings of as much as $20 off regular charges—to raise money for the Young Survival Coalition, a group dedicated to helping young women diagnosed with breast cancer.

"I had heard of the YSC, but wasn't all that familiar with them until the company that handles my , brought them to our attention," Gatsby owner, and Bridgewater resident, Gayle Giacomo said. "We are hoping to accommodate at least 120 clients for blowouts."

The Blowouts for the Cure event will begin at 6 p.m. and last until 9 p.m. In addition to the blowouts, the event will include special pink cocktails, a complimentary GG Gatsby googie bag and more.

"We will also be offering henna tattoos that evening, where all proceeds will also go towards the YSC Charity," Giacomo said.

While Blowouts for the Cure is one day, the salon is also committed to donating 10 percent of the sales of GG Gatsby hair care products alll month to the YSC, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Giacomo has long prided herself on the salon's projects aimed at helping charities and community groups—the staff helps out at cut-a-thons for Locks of Love and the American Cancer Society, as well as drives to help Toys for Tots.

"We have always tried to give back in the past," she said.

Giacomo said she expects a good turnout for Friday's Blowouts for the Cure.

"We have also gotten a lot of positive feedback from the community; many people are coming strictly to support and donate and show their love for the cause," she said.
