Waitress Who Claimed to Get Anti-Gay Message a 'Compulsive Liar,' Friends Say

Bedminster resident's friends in NY said Dayna Morales 'lies about everything,' including details on her service in the Marines.

A Bridgewater family denied this week leaving a Gallop Asian Bistro waitress an anti-gay message on a receipt instead of a tip.

The latest revelation in the saga that has made national headlines doesn't surprise friends of Dayna Morales who consider the former U.S. Marine a "compulsive liar."

Friends and former co-workers in New York said Morales, who now lives in Bedminster, claimed Hurricane Sandy severely damaged her home and sent a boat into her living room, according to The Journal News. However, the home only suffered minor damage, the article reported.

Morales also claimed to have been deployed in Afghanistan where her entire platoon was killed except her, according to the article. However, a spokesman for the Marines told The Journal News Morales was deployed to Romania and there is no record of her being in Afghanistan, the article said.

A woman who dated Morales said the note on the charge receipt appeared similar to her ex-girlfriend's handwriting, according to the article.

Morales, 22, made national headlines after she posted a copy of a credit card charge receipt on Nov. 13 to the "Have a Gay Day" Facebook page. The receipt for the Route 202 restaurant showed she received no tip, but a handwritten message: "Sorry but I cannot tip because I don't agree with your lifestyle and how you live your life."

An outpouring of support—and donations—immediately came pouring in and Morales vowed to donate most of them to the Wounded Warrior Project.

However, a Bridgewater couple anonymously came forward to NBC New York this week and claimed the infamous receipt was theirs, but said they left an $18 tip and did not write the anti-gay message. The couple provided a copy of their receipt showing the $18 tip and their bank statement revealing the total restaurant bill with tip.

Representatives from Gallop Asian Bistro declined to comment this week, but said the restaurant is investigating the incident
