Kerwin will speak on “Challenges Small Businesses Face in Tough Economic Times,” focusing on economic and demographic issues that have an impact on the profitability and sustainability of small businesses. He will focus on the principles addressed in INVESTMENT SOMERSET: A Collaborative Blueprint for Economic Growth, a document that identifies and prioritizes economic development strategies that will further job creation and private sector investment in Somerset County.

“Small business is the heart and soul of economic prosperity in any region of the country,” stated Kerwin. “The basic principles of job creation and economic investment are the same regardless of the size of the business.”

Kerwin further commented that Warren is a microcosm of the Somerset County economy, a well-run municipality with high personal income supported by a significant commercial tax base. “Businesses in Warren are in a good position to succeed if they can adjust to our changing demographic and economic conditions” concluded Kerwin.

The evening will include an opportunity to ask questions of the speaker and networking opportunities. Light refreshments will be served. To register, call 908-754-5554, ext. 32.
