Business Partnership Workshop on Doing Business Internationally

The Somerset County Business Partnership, in cooperation with PNC Wealth Management, PNC Bank, Norris, McLaughlin, & Marcus, P.A., and WithumSmith+Brown, PC, will present a panel discussion, “Doing Business Internationally: Promises & Perils,” on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Raritan Valley Country Club, 747 State Road in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

 

Registration and breakfast begins at 8:00 A.M. with the program running from 8:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. followed by a question and answer session. The session is free. Pre-registration is requested and may be accomplished at events@scbp.org or by calling the Business partnership at 908-218-4300.

The presentation, designed for business owners, financial planners, human resource professionals, accountants, and others responsible for business operations, will provide insight into how to be successful in the global marketplace. The session is appropriate for businesses looking to sell products and services in the global marketplace.

“Technology is making the world smaller, allowing businesses of any size to consider entering the global marketplace,” commented Rich Cohen, Senior Vice-President of PNC Wealth Management. “This session will provide the basic information needed to consider the decision on going global and how to execute the plan once the decision is made to proceed.”

 

Among the specific issues to be addressed are: general corporate planning and methods of conducting business; international letters of credit and reducing financial risk; foreign exchange issues addressing risks and challenges of operating overseas; tax issues focusing on compliance and the implications of non-compliance.

 

Presenters include Michele Stacey, Vice-President of International Banking Group at PNC Bank, Robert C. Gabrielski, Esq., Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus, Jeffrey Placido, Director of Foreign Exchange for PNC Capital Markets, and Kimberlee Phelan of WithumSmith+Brown. The session will be moderated by Mike Kerwin, President/CEO of the Somerset County Business Partnership.
