Jay Perantoni Named VP of Educational Facilities Planners Local Chapter

Jay Perantoni, AIA, senior principal at SSP Architectural Group, has been named vice president of the Chesapeake Bay/Delaware Valley Chapter of the Council for Educational Facilities Planners International.

CEFPI is the only professional organization whose principal purpose is improving the places where children learn. CEFPI embraces a diverse group of professionals with one single goal – building healthy, safe, high performance and sustainable learning environments that enhance student and teacher performance and support culture and community vitality. The Chesapeake Bay/Delaware Valley Chapter was recently formed by the organization. Serving as the inaugural vice-president, Perantoni will elevate to President-Elect and President over the next three years.

Jay Perantoni, AIA, has been a major force in the development of innovative educational projects throughout the State of New Jersey for over thirty years.  His portfolio of educational work spans hundreds of projects, ranging from complex renovations of existing school facilities to improve educational efficiency, to the adaptive reuse of extraordinary historic properties for educational purposes, to the design of entire new school facilities reflecting contemporary architectural design and cutting edge advances in nationwide educational practice.

Since joining SSP Architectural Group in 1980 and working under his father Frank Perantoni’s tutelage, Jay Perantoni has become a Principal and Partner-in-Charge of the firm – the oldest in the State of New Jersey. A registered architect for over 26 years, Jay’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Princeton University, as well as a Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska.  He has been a member of the American Institute of Architects for over thirty years, as well as a member of the Roofing Contractor’s Institute, Construction Specifier’s Institute, the National Committee on Architecture for Education, and the Council of Educational Facility Planners International.  For the Council of Educational Facility Planners, he is currently serving in a leadership role for the international organization’s Northeastern United States chapter in addition to his service at the new Chesapeake Bay/Delaware Valley chapter.  His activities there influence the continued advancement of educational design paradigms on a national and international level.
