SSP ARCHITECTS CEO EARNS

CERTIFIED EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES PLANNER DESIGNATION

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Jeanne Perantoni, AIA, LEED AP, Chief Executive Officer of SSP Architectural Group, recently received the Certified Educational Facility Planner (CEFP) designation, a mark of excellence developed to reflect the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a competent educational facility planner.

The CEFP credential was designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and identify those in the educational environment industry who demonstrate the knowledge essential to the practice of educational facility planning.

The Council of Educational Facility Planners (CEFPI), creator of the CEFP credential, observed that “An individual who has been certified by CEFPI has achieved the highest qualification in our profession.  Clients can appoint CEFPs with confidence that they have been examined for competence by our association.” The Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI) is the only professional organization whose principal purpose is improving the places where children learn.

After meeting eligibility requirements and submitting an application, CEFP candidates must pass a rigorous CEFP exam.  Once a candidate has earned the credential, they must maintain it by fulfilling certification renewal requirements every three years, in addition to maintaining minimum continuing education units each year.

Since joining SSP in 1982, Ms. Perantoni has become renowned statewide for design of K-12 educational facilities with focus on “Green Design” concepts and smart growth principles. She has been a registered architect since 1984, when less than 2 percent of the registered architects in New Jersey were women. She has been recognized for higher education campus master planning, and received a Somerset County Planning Award for her work on the twenty-five year facilities master plan for Raritan Valley Community College. In addition to her design responsibilities, she oversees a staff of 21 architects and support personnel.

Her pioneering work in community school planning has won recognition from the Governor’s office as the model for integrating high performance features and advanced technology with essential community functions.  She received the Council of Educational Facility Planners’ Outstanding Achievement Award for her work with New Jersey school districts, and four of her K-12 school projects have received "Excellence in Design" citations, been published in the National School Boards Association Journal, Learning by Design, attained LEED Platinum certification, and been designated as “Green Ribbon Schools” by the U.S. Department of Education.
