The Basking Ridge Country Club is hosting a Bow Wow Luau to raise money for the on Commons Way. It is being organized by the Friends of the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. In honor of that, and to hopefully encourage others to go, we present five things to know about the Luau.

  • Dogs!—The benefit is welcoming well-behaved dogs to partake in the activities, and doggy goody bags will be given out.
  • Food, Festivities—The event will feature tropical foods and drinks, in addition to a silent auction.
  • Helping Animals—The shelter helps more than 1,000 lost, abandoned and surrendered animals every year, and provides free humane education to schools.
  • Friends Supporting—Friends of the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter is sponsoring the Luau. The organization is a volunteer group supporting the shelter. It organizes adoptions and hosts fundraisers.
  • Tickets—Tickets for the festivities are $55 per person, and $65 at the door, plus $10 for one dog and $5 for each additional dog.
