East Main Street Section to be Closed Tuesday

Construction is being done on the bridge there.

A section of East Main Street will be closed Tuesday as the county continues work on the second stage of the bridge replacement project.

According to a release from the county, the section of the road between Chimney Rock Road/Polhemus Lane and Foothill Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During that time, the release said, construction will include the relocation of concrete barrier curb and impact attenuators, which will safely accommodate the switch.

Bridgewater Township Police officers will be on hand during the construction to provide traffic directors, the release said, and temporary detour signs will be posted along the route. Local traffic will be able to access driveways, and pedestrian access will be maintained while the section of road is closed.

While the construction is taking place, the section of East Main Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
