A Sunset Lake resident has started a petition to get JCP&L out of Bridgewater, saying the company's management needs an overhaul.

Bridgewater Township Mayor Dan Hayes said Thursday that restoring power to the several thousand in town who still don't have it is the first priority for his administration right now.

With just a few more power outages reported, the township fared fairly well in Wednesday's nor'easter, and didn't suffer too much more damage on the roads.

Republican incumbent Filipe Pedroso won a seat on the township council Tuesday, defeating Democratic challenger William Metz.

Incumbent Patrick Breslin and newcomers Jacqueline Barlow and Aaron Kurdyla won seats on the board of education in Tuesday's election.

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School and Hillsborough High School field hockey teams worked together to collect items for hurricane victims at their recent state games.
