JCP&L to Hold Conference Call on Sunday

Call to explain to town officials how far along repairs are.

According to Bridgewater Township Administrator Bob Bogart, JCP&L will be holding a conference call on Sunday to explain to town officials how far along repairs are.

Bogart explained that while he hasn’t been in contact with PSE&G as of Sunday afternoon, that JCP&L currently has 1,040 residents out of power, and that the latest restoration estimates are for Wednesday or Thursday.

Bogart also said that all of the roads in town have been plowed, but explained that many of the fallen trees won’t be able to be removed until the power company can come and turn the power off. He also said some streets are restricted by fallen trees.

“All of our roads are plowed, he said. “There are a lot of trees down and a lot of them can’t be touched if they’re entangled in wires until the power company gets there. We have a pretty significant amount of trees down…[JCP&L] is telling us it may be until Wednesday or Thursday before they have power restored. It can’t be a lot different for Public Service, but I have not talked to them.

Bogart also spoke about shelters and warming spots for residents without power, saying that while the township has the ability to open them, he doesn’t believe that people would use them.

“The people who are out of power, we think they’re either going to go to a motel on their own, or go someplace with family, Bogart explained. “If they don’t have either, I would think that they would go to a shelter.”
