Officials: Storm Almost a Non-Event

Salting the roads mostly did the trick against ice and slush Tuesday.

After a little bit of overnight snow, and some ice and rain, officials said they were able to take care of the roads with some salting and a little plowing.

According to township administrator Robert Bogart, this storm was a mixture of ice and snow that was pretty much over by the early morning hours Tuesday.

"It was snow first, then ice and rain," he said. "Salting mostly did the trick. In some cases we plowed, like in the municipal building parking lot."

Bogart said the township cleared some snow from the sidewalks, and were done with the work by about 9 a.m.

"We were down to bare pavement," he said.

The township, Bogart said, is not expecting any issues into the evening, unless the weather takes a turn for the worse.

"If the temperature drops below freezing, there could be a problem on the roads," he said. "Now, they're not far above, but any quirk in the weather could change that."

"But according to reports, we are not expecting any problems," he added.

But, Bogart said, the township was in good shape on the roads by about 7 a.m. Tuesday.

"It was a little slushy in the morning," he said.

Fortunately, Bogart said, the storm was not too big of a deal this time, although it did require some work.

"It was almost a non-event," he said. "It was a nothing that created some chaos."
