Public Input Sought on Future of Somerset

Together New Jersey, the Somerset County Board of Freeholders, Somerset County Planning Board and North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority are holding a public session Tuesday to work on plans for developing the county.

The purpose, according to a release from the county, is to develop a regional plan for connecting people, places and potential.

The forum will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Somerset County Vocational & Technical School Cafeteria, Building C, on Vogt Drive.

“We are looking for public input to help develop long-range plans that will shape the future of northern and central New Jersey,” freeholder director Peter Palmer said in the release.

The workshop is part of a series being held by Together North Jersey, which is made up of local, state and regional partners to create a Regional Plan for Sustainable Development. The purpose is to allow the public to share their ideas for building stronger communities and economies with better access to transportation, housing, jobs and other opportunities.

The NJTPA will also be at the forum to discuss its update on long range transportation plans.

The workshop will include the opportunity for the public, local government, community groups, private industry and business representatives to speak out, and will include a presentation followed by breakout sessions.
