Somerset County Red Cross Announces Shelter Plan

Red Cross urges people to stay prepared at home.

The Greater Somerset County Chapter of the American Red Cross announced on Saturday that they will be opening shelters for residents, should they be evacuated from their homes due to flooding from this weekend’s storm.

The American Red Cross will have shelters open in these locations:

  • Bound Brook High School, 111 West Union Avenue, Bound Brook, NJ 08805 at 4:00 p.m.
  • Manville VFW, 600 Washington Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835 at 8:00 p.m.
  • Raritan Valley Community College, 118 Lamington Road, Branchburg,  NJ 08876 at 5:00 p.m.

The American Red Cross is also encouraging people to take the necessary steps to shelter themselves in their homes with enough food and water, as well as flashlights, batteries, a portable radio and medication for at least three days.
